Alder Archaeology Walkover Surveys

Walkover Surveys

Walkover surveys are often required by local authorities when developments will impact upon land where little is known about the local archaeology and history.  Most frequently this type of survey is required in upland areas, where upstanding remains have most likely survived and remained undetected.  Forested and wooded areas are also often the subject of these surveys.  Alder staff have extensive experience in this field particularly with linear sites such as hydro-electric schemes and overhead powerlines.  We also have experience of non-linear sites such as wind farm sites and areas where afforestation is proposed to take place.

Alder can carry out these surveys quicky and efficently at any time of year.  As well as surveying existing archaeological sites, we will use our expertise to provide mitigation suggestions, to avoid unnecessary delays to your development during the planning process.
